The intake valve clearance should be smaller and the exhaust valve clearance should be larger. Before adjustment, the T point of the magneto should be aligned with the observation hole above, or the cylinder head should be opened to observe that the rocker arm is parallel, and the cam is on the side far from the rocker arm. You can also press the starting lever by hand, and then press it slightly about two centimeters after the rebound, indicating that the position of the starting lever is stuck. This should be when the piston reaches the top and shakes the valve stem up and down by hand. If there is a clear momentum, it may be too loose. If there is no slight movement at all, and the shaking from side to side is tight, it may be too tight. When adjusting the valve, for example, loosen the screw on the valve stem (No.8 or 10 wrench), and then screw the valve screw clockwise with your fingers, and it will be fine when you feel slight resistance. Then, you should clamp the screw, and if it is inconvenient to start, use a special adjusting socket wrench.

The method of adjusting the valve clearance varies with different specific models. Take the common single-cylinder motorcycle as an example. First, remove the valve cover or cylinder head cover, remove the magneto inspection hole cover, rotate the magneto according to the running direction of the engine, and align the T-dash line on the magneto rotor with the mark on the inspection hole cover or the engine case, so that the piston is at the compression top dead center and the valve rocker arm is in a relaxed state. At this time, the valve clearance can be adjusted. The valve clearance of different models of cars is different, so it should be adjusted according to the maintenance data of cars.
