What does the double spring year mean?
Double spring means that there will be two beginning of spring in the Lunar New Year.
The traditional calendar in China is a combination of yin and yang: "Yin" means that the calendar month is based on the new moon (with an average length of 29.5306 days), and the new moon is the first day of each month; "Yang" means that its calendar year is basically based on the Tropic of Cancer, and the first day of the first month (that is, the Spring Festival) is the first day of the first month around the annual "beginning of spring".
The average year of Gregorian calendar 12 is only 354 days or 355 days, and only 353 days in some years; A leap month 13 year has 383 or 384 days, and some years have 385 days, which can contain 25 solar terms, so that there is a "beginning of spring" at the beginning and end of each year, which becomes a double spring year. Double spring years generally appear in leap month years.
When is the double spring year?
Double spring years generally appear in leap month years. According to the normal month, the lunar calendar has 24 solar terms in a year, and after the 24 solar terms are replaced, it will enter the next year's solar terms replacement. However, due to the leap month, next year's beginning of spring solar terms will appear on this year's tail. Therefore, the phenomenon of "double spring year" appeared.
In fact, this is caused by the current custom system in China that the first day of the new year is the beginning of the new year. In ancient times, people regarded beginning of spring as the beginning of a new year, so there was no such thing as a "double spring year" in ancient times. The "double spring year" is only the result of the "correction" of the yin and yang calendars, and it is a natural product of the solar terms in the calendar, which has nothing to do with good or bad luck.
For example, the first beginning of spring in the Year of the Monkey in 2004 was on February 4, 2004, and the second beginning of spring in the Year of the Monkey was on February 4, 2005, because the Year of the Rooster was only on February 9, 2005, which was a double spring. In 2004, the year of the monkey had a leap in February, which was a "double spring year", and in 2005, the year of the rooster became a "spring-free year".
2004 is the year of double spring. In 10 and the burning generation, 20 12, 20 14, 20 17 and 2020 are "double spring years".
