What does the car EPC light mean?

Generally speaking, EPC lights have two possibilities. First, the throttle is dirty and needs cleaning. In another case, the brake light is not on, so it is necessary to check the brake switch and wiring.

EPC (Lost Foam Casting) is a kind of full mold casting (FM). In this casting, the foam mold is combined with dry sand, and there is no need for adhesive and vacuum pumping technology. Due to this casting method, the investment is low, the cost is low, the casting size accuracy is high, and the surface is smooth, which greatly reduces the labor intensity, improves the working environment and realizes the clean production in the casting workshop.

Generally speaking, the EPC technology in China is still at a low level in casting complexity and quality level. There is still a big gap with advanced industrial countries in technology, commercialization and mechanical automation. Advanced industrialized countries have successfully mass-produced complex castings such as automobile four cylinders and cylinder heads, and the productivity is 180 type/hour.

The productivity of relatively simple castings such as exhaust pipe and shell is only below 30 types/hour. There is also a considerable gap between the precision and surface roughness of the castings produced, but the development prospect of this new technology of EPC in China is very optimistic.
