Once the canal is completed, the water level of the Dead Sea will inevitably rise, and Jordan's large chemical plant at the southern end of the Dead Sea will be submerged. The inflow of Mediterranean sea water into the Dead Sea will dilute the mineral content of the Dead Sea and have a negative impact on the environment near the Dead Sea. After the news that Israel built the canal came out, it was strongly condemned by Egypt, Jordan, Palestine Liberation Organization and other Arab countries and organizations.

The Jordanian government is worried that the canal will endanger the large chemical plant that Jordan has just started at the southeast end of the Dead Sea. As a countermeasure, Jordan decided to fight a "canal war" with Israel at no expense. According to the UN resolution, the canal that Israel will build will partially pass through the occupied Palestinian land, which will violate international law and affect the interests of the Palestinian people.
