What is Kuimao?

Guimao is one of the main branches, ranking 40th. The former is Ren Yin and the latter is Chen Jia. On yin and yang and five elements (birth time and fate), heavenly stems belong to yin branch water. The 40th year of a cycle in China's traditional calendar is called "Guimao Year".

The chronology of cadres and party branches is a 60-year cycle. On the five elements of Yin and Yang, the heavenly stems belong to the water of Yin, and the earthly branches belong to the wood of Yin, which is called aquatic wood. Mao is one of the twelve earthly branches, which is the earthly branch before the zodiac.

Extended data

The 40th year of a cycle in China's traditional calendar is called "Guimao Year". In the following calendar years, the number of years over 60 is divided by 43, or the number of years is reduced by 3, and the remainder of division by 10 is 0, and the remainder of division by 12 is 4. The years from the first day of the first month of that year to New Year's Eve of the following year were all "mourning years". This year must be the Year of the Rabbit. Like 1963, it is the year of Guimao.

Lunar calendar is a dry calendar, and solar terms are used to guide agricultural production. Branches and branches are not divided into solar terms, regardless of traditional habits or official calendars (see the perpetual calendar compiled by Purple Mountain Observatory of Chinese Academy of Sciences for details).
