Tibetan Festival: Tibetan horse racing (a traditional festival in China)

Tibetan horse racing is one of the traditional Tibetan festivals and one of the famous horse racing events in China. It is held in July or August of the lunar calendar every year and usually lasts for three to ten days. This festival is a grand gathering of Tibetan people. In order to celebrate the bumper harvest and good weather, people dressed in costumes and beautiful ornaments, sang and danced, and watched various traditional folk performances. The main program of Tibet Horse Racing Club is horse racing. Horses, big and small, gather together. They come from different Tibetan areas and carry young Tibetan men and women. These horses are unique to Tibetans. They are smart and flexible, and they are very important means of transportation and partners for Tibetans. In horse racing, the speed and flexibility of horses are the key to judge the outcome. Participants will scream and form a drum team to cheer for the horses. Besides horse racing, Tibetan horse racing clubs also have various cultural activities and traditional national performances, such as dance performances, singing competitions and Tibetan wrestling. These activities enabled more people to understand the profound cultural heritage of people in Xizang, and enhanced the friendship and cultural exchanges among all ethnic groups.
