Behind the story:

In 835 AD, Du Mu, a talented scholar in the late Tang Dynasty, condescended to be the satrap of Xuanzhou. Due to lack of talent, he has been unhappy. On the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival, he went to Wuzhong, a scenic city, for "recreation" at the invitation of Cui Jun, the secretariat of Huzhou.

At that time, Huzhou held a large-scale water dragon boat race every year on the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival. On this day, in the annual traditional competition, Huzhou was crowded with people and left home. At that time, cruise ships gathered, men and women were noisy, and the orchestra sang together, which was very spectacular.

In this dragon boat race, Du Mu, who just turned 30, met Zhang, a beautiful girl from Wuzhong. Zhang is not only good-looking, but also shy and talented. She is proficient in piano, chess, calligraphy and painting. At first glance, Du Mu froze, and his heart fluctuated. However, after all, she is still young, not yet 30 years old, and Du Mu can't stay long because of official business, so she sent a personal letter to the girl and promised to marry her ten years later.

Time flies, ten years in blowing in the wind. In the Qingming Festival in 845 AD, when Du Mu came to Chizhou across the river from Huzhou to be a satrap, he wanted to go to Huzhou for an appointment. But the plan couldn't keep up with the change, because the people suddenly forced him to violate it within his jurisdiction, and he was too busy. By the time he calmed the situation down, the appointment period had passed, so he was very upset. The next day, Tomb-Sweeping Day, he felt deeply hurt. Facing the next continuous spring rain, he wrote a poem full of hatred and sadness:

"It rains in the Qingming period, and pedestrians on the road want to break their souls. Excuse me, where is the restaurant? The shepherd boy refers to Xinghua Village. "

Four years later, in 849 AD, Du Mu was transferred to Huzhou as a secretariat. He readily kept the appointment, only to find that Zhang Hao had been married for three years. In other words, Zhang waited for him for eleven years and finally gave up, so he married someone else.

In this regard, Du Mu deeply regrets and feels sad. In addition, he also wrote a poem "Seven Wonders": "I hate to find incense too late, I have seen it a few years ago. Now all the flowers are gone and the green leaves are full of branches. "

It can be seen that this "Qingming" is a sad song. Du Mu wrote down his feelings for a beautiful girl, but unexpectedly left a romantic story to the world.
