Appreciation of Wang Wei's poem "Cold Food is Oriental"
Tang Dynasty: Wang Wei
A clear stream runs through the peach and plum trees, and the water waves ripple green and moist.
There are only a few families by the stream, and most of the fallen flowers float eastward.
Kick the ball higher than the bird and fly out of the green poplar forest with a wave of his hand.
Young people go to play separately for a few days every day, and there is no need to wait until Qingming and Shangsi.

A clear stream runs through the peach and plum blossom forest, and the water waves ripple with green cattails to moisten angelica dahurica.
There are always only a few families by the stream, and most of the fallen flowers drift in the east water.
The kicked ball is often higher than the bird, and the swinging swings compete to fly out of the poplar forest.
Young people come to play every day when they are apart, and there is no need to wait until Qingming to think.

Creation background
This poem is Wang Wei's early work. As an early spring poem in the Kaiyuan period of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, the specific creation year is unknown. At that time, Wang Wei was in Chang 'an (now Xi 'an, Shaanxi) or Luoyang (now Henan).

In the first two sentences of this poem, write a clean stream that flows through peach blossoms and plum blossoms; Weeds rippling by the stream and angelica dahurica moist are comfortable and quiet. In ancient customs, when peach blossoms were underwater in March, princes and their families gathered on the waterfront to wash them and drive away the ominous. What is displayed here is this custom, which shows the power of spring.
In three or four sentences, it is also a gentle and quiet image to write about the peach and plum flowers falling in the stream and running water of several families, showing a strong early spring atmosphere and a strong sense of picture.
Five or six sentences are transformed into images of strength and youth. Ancient swings can only be seen around Tomb-Sweeping Day and the Cold Food Festival, and they are only used for games of boys and girls in wealthy families. According to Jingchu Years, when people make highland barley porridge, they often take cockfighting, cuju and swinging as entertainment. These two sentences add a few swings and balls flying high in the air from time to time to the background of the first four sentences, which makes the whole picture more full of this fresh and smart youthful vitality. In particular, the words "Guo" and "Chu" are well used, which respectively describe the warm atmosphere when young men and women play, making people feel the scene of young people indulging in pleasure and showing infinite envy.
The last two sentences mean that young people should have a happy and carefree attitude every day. They don't have to wait until the Shangsi Festival in Tomb-Sweeping Day to go out to play, that is, eat, drink and be merry in time.
In Cold Food is Oriental, the author expresses the idea of "Eat, Enjoy and Live in Time", and people's youth and even life are very short. The poet believes that if you want to make contributions, cultivate one's morality and achieve something in a short time, it is not solid after all, and it is true only if you take the time to enjoy happiness. The whole poem depicts a beautiful scene of early spring, interwoven with the vigorous strength of youthful vitality and the quiet and leisurely atmosphere of home, which fully embodies the picturesque characteristics of Wang Wei's poems.
