Yuan Zhen was born in Luoyang, the capital of Henan Province, and was a famous poet and writer in the Tang Dynasty. His father is Yuan Kuan and his mother is Zheng. He is a descendant of Tuoba, a Xianbei nationality in the Northern Wei Dynasty, and the fourteenth grandson of Tuoba, the emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty.
