Understanding Tibetan culture for the first time (1): How do Tibetans understand the structure of the universe?

The study of Tibetan astronomical calendar is developed by the Tibetan people who have lived on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for generations, under the special natural geographical and climatic conditions of the plateau, according to the needs of production and life in the long-term production activities, constantly observing natural phenomena such as the sun, the moon, the stars, the cold and warm climate, the four seasons, the growth and changes of animals and plants, summing up and accumulating practical experience, and absorbing the astronomical calendar theory of neighboring Han and ancient India. It is a science that studies the distribution and movement of the sun, moon, stars and other celestial bodies in the universe and the structure and development of the universe. It belongs to one of the small and medium-sized five civilizations (disciplines) in Tibetan traditional culture. It is called "Zi" in Tibetan, which means "Numbering". To put it simply, Tibetan astronomical calendar is a unique subject, which calculates all kinds of data about the movement and seasonal changes of stars in the universe, judges the year, month and day of a year by referring to some phenology, and predicts the movement laws and positions of various stars, so as to understand the good and evil of climate change and the development of things, thus helping people to seek good fortune and avoid evil in life and production. It summarizes all kinds of experiences of looking up at astronomy and overlooking geography, and constantly improves them. It is the wisdom crystallization of the communication between Tibetan people and nature for thousands of years. 1 Tibetan people developed a set of astronomical almanac algorithm based on ancient five lines of gossip theory and the astronomical almanac brought by Princess Wencheng when she entered Tibet, and marked different years with five colors: white, black, brown, green, yellow and red. On June 7th, 2008, Tibet Astronomical Calendar was approved by the State Council to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
