The new Regal 2.0L Elite Edition frequently appears "Please overhaul the electronic stability control" and "engine power reduction". What is the reason?

I saw a good analysis method on the Internet for reference: about the fault alarm and maintenance process of the electronic stability control of the new Regal. Source: I found the fault alarm of the electronic stability control of the new Regal in all the major Regal forums, and most of them will return to normal after a short stop. First of all, it can be proved that it is not a mechanical or module problem, because in that case, the alarm will always be on. So what's the problem? To tell the truth, I don't know, after all, it's not professional. My Serena has traveled more than 7,000 kilometers at present, and there have been three fault alarms for overhauling the electronic stability control in the middle, each time it takes about 10 minutes before everything returns to normal. At first, the 4S shop made a computer system diagnosis, and no fault code was found. I didn't take it seriously, thinking it was because the version of the driving computer program was not very good.

But after the third alarm appeared a few days ago, I reflected this phenomenon to the Shanghai headquarters. The factory attached great importance to it and specially contacted and arranged the technical director of our local 4S shop to help me check this problem. The day before yesterday, I drove Serena here and started a comprehensive inspection. I hope this inspection process and results can bring a little understanding to friends who have the same problem. Let's talk about the inspection process, and finally attach pictures and instructions.

PS: Electronic stability fault alarm is not unique to version 2.0, but exists in both versions 2.0 and 2.4.

The whole inspection process adopts the elimination method, that is, all the places that can cause electronic stability control fault alarm are inspected one by one (why do you want to do this inspection? Listen to the employees say that they are not familiar with some technologies of the new Regal, and although they have received training, they still have no practical experience, so they can only inspect them one by one):

First of all, the conventional computer system diagnosis, technicians connect the computer to the car, and carry out system diagnosis when the car is idling. After several inspections, everything was normal, and no fault code was found, because the car was in normal condition when it went.

Then hang up the oil pressure gauge for the long-distance road acceleration test, mainly to see the working pressure of the oil pump, so as to judge whether the oil pump is blocked or has other working problems. The result of the inspection is that the oil pump works normally (note: before it appeared, there was a feature that when the air conditioner was turned on, there was a sudden acceleration and the operation was fierce. If the oil pump is abnormal, the electronic stability system will not work normally for a short time and will give an alarm).

Next, check the oil filter, because this problem occurred after my car was insured for the first time (about 4500KM), so the technician checked whether the oil filter was installed in place and the oil level, and the result of the inspection was no problem.

Finally, the technician left the inspection items on two things similar to spark plugs at the upper left of the engine (see figure). I didn't catch the specific name and function at that time, because the workshop was very hot and noisy. I only vaguely heard the technician talking about the camshaft sensor, which is related to the control of VVT. There is also a filter in it. If the filter screen is a little blocked, sometimes it will cause a short-term fault alarm because it is too professional. A * * * has two things in common. The technician took one of them (see picture), looked at it carefully, and said it was a little dirty, but it was not easy to clean, so he directly replaced it with a new one. Instead, it is carefully wrapped in a clean soft cloth, which looks very accurate and very important.

After replacing the sensor, the electrician checked the line by the way, and finally returned to the road for a road test, including rapid acceleration, and the electronic stability control did not give a fault alarm. But the technician told me that everything that can be checked at present has been checked. For the time being, I can only judge that this thing caused the fault alarm. Tell me to drive for a while first, and contact them as soon as possible if it appears again.

Here is a supplement: the technicians told me that the filter screen of the new Regal oil pump is too thin than other cars, so it requires high oil products. If the oil is not good, it will easily cause the filter screen to be blocked and the pressure is not enough, which will also affect the normal work of the electronic stability control system. Two car owners in Changzhou have replaced the filter screen of the oil pump because of blockage, and a lot of sediment has been washed out of the oil tank. I suggest you go to a regular gas station with good reputation and good oil products to refuel. At present, the qualified rate of oil products in many private gas stations is very low.
