Is it a traditional custom to eat jiaozi on the winter solstice?

My hometown is a coastal city in the north. In my hometown, the custom of winter solstice is actually the same as that of many northern areas, that is, you must eat jiaozi on winter solstice.

But it is different from the custom of eating jiaozi in winter in other northern cities. On the solstice of winter, the jiaozi we eat here is usually made of shrimp and pork eggs, which is a local specialty, and the three fresh fillings are jiaozi. This is the meat stuffing of Spanish mackerel meat from our local seafood, Spanish mackerel from Risai, jiaozi. As the saying goes, relying on the mountain to eat the sea may be because we face the sea here, so on the solstice of winter, we choose to pack jiaozi, which is a winter custom. We will have more choices in jiaozi's tastes, which should be regarded as a very happy thing for us.

In fact, in retrospect, I was happier when I was a child. On the solstice of winter, the family sat around the hot kang and wrapped jiaozi together. Although I was only seven or eight years old at that time, I was already able to participate. Roll dumpling wrappers to help adults do what they can. The family's package of jiaozi not only expressed a deep affection, but also felt the beauty and happiness of life in the process.
