What festival is the Millennium?

The Millennium is one of the twenty-four solar terms in the lunar calendar and the fifteenth solar term in a year. When the sun reaches longitude 165, it is white dew, usually around September 8 every year. It's officially autumn.

In the Millennium solar terms, the rainfall in the north began to decrease, and crops were in urgent need of rainwater irrigation during the autumn harvest. Drought is most feared at this time.

There is a continuous rainfall "West China Autumn Rain" in the west and southwest.

Folk proverb: spring drought is not drought, autumn drought is halved.

"Book of Rites" records: cool breeze comes, white dew falls, cicadas sing.

Generally, the temperature difference between day and night is the largest throughout the year. Folk proverb: a thousand years of autumn wind, a cold night.

After the Millennium solar term, the weather turned cold, and the water vapor in the air condensed into small drops at night, which adhered to flowers, trees, stones and other places. This is dew. It looks white, so it's called white deer.

Most crops begin to mature or are about to mature, and migratory birds begin to fly south.

Qian Qi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, wrote "Autumn Sunset in Drugstore": Xuanwu hides the shade of wood, but the Dan bird is still ashamed.

"Danniao is still ashamed" refers to migratory birds flying south, while Danniao here refers to birds that do not migrate and have begun to store food for winter.

Folklore: Fujian people ate longan for thousands of years. Hunan brews Bailu rice wine. Egret tea in Nanjing area. Yu Wang Sacrifice in Taihu Lake Area. Wenzhou, Zhejiang and other places have had the custom of Millennium Festival. In Cangnan, Pingyang and other places, people collect "ten kinds of whites" (also called "three kinds of whites") on this day to snuggle up to black-bone white-haired chickens (or ducks). It is said that eating them can nourish the body and get rid of the atmosphere (arthritis). These "ten kinds of white" are ten kinds of herbs with the word "white", such as Trichoderma, white hair bitter and so on, which literally corresponds to "white dew"
