What's the difference between Mid-Autumn Festival and Tomb-Sweeping Day?
In the third month of the lunar calendar in the Qingming Festival, water vapor, that is, Yin Qi, entered the stage of "death", just like the dormant period of animals. The active period of ghost activities ended here, and people entered the yin house, that is, the grave to rest, so it is said that this is the time to collect ghosts. The money given to the ancestors should be sent in time, otherwise once the ancestors are dormant or have closed their homes (tombs), they will not be collected.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is commonly known as Ghost Festival and July 30th, and Buddhism is called Bonihara Festival. As a traditional folk festival, the name "Central Plains" originated in the Northern Wei Dynasty, when it was the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, and part of it was the 14th of July. It used to be Xiaoqiu, and a batch of crops were ripe. As a rule, people should worship their ancestors, provide new rice and other sacrifices, and report the situation in Qiu Cheng to their ancestors. Therefore, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, every family pays homage to their ancestors. On July 15, I went to visit the grave to worship my ancestors.
? Tomb-Sweeping Day is one of the 24 solar terms in the lunar calendar. At the turn of mid-spring and late spring, that is, from winter to the future 108 days, the solar terms are formulated according to the lunar calendar, and there is no leap year in the lunar calendar. The traditional Tomb-Sweeping Day of the Han nationality in China began in the Zhou Dynasty, and it originated from the monument of Jie Zitui, a loyal minister in Jin Wengong, to show that he never forgot his ambition of "Qingming". For ordinary people, it is a new form of paying homage to ancestors. It has a history of more than 2500 years.
"Almanac": "On the fifteenth day after the vernal equinox, the bucket refers to Ding, which is used for Qingming, when everything is clean and bright, and when it is covered, everything is clean and bright, hence the name." As soon as Qingming comes, the temperature rises, which is a good time for spring ploughing and sowing, so there is a saying that "before and after Qingming, we plant melons and beans". Tomb-Sweeping Day is a festival to worship ancestors, and the traditional activity is to sweep graves.
Although Mid-Autumn Festival and Tomb-Sweeping Day are both traditional festivals, Tomb-Sweeping Day mainly trims graves, worships ancestors in Mid-Autumn Festival and burns paper money, with different division of labor. Therefore, the difference between Mid-Autumn Festival and Tomb-Sweeping Day is easy to distinguish.
