How to prepare abscisic acid
Molecular formula: c 15 H2O 4.
Molecular weight: 264.32
Natural abscisic acid is a white crystalline powder, which is easily soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, chloroform, ethyl acetate and chloroform, but insoluble in ether and benzene, and its water solubility is 3-5 g/L(20℃). Abscisic acid has good stability. After two years' storage at room temperature, the content of active ingredients is basically unchanged, but it should be stored in a dry, cool and dark place. Abscisic acid aqueous solution is sensitive to light and belongs to strong light decomposition compound.
Different abscisic acid concentrations have different effects on plants.
Generally, the concentration used is below 10-6 mol/L, that is, 0.264mg is dissolved in 1L water or diluted again.
In the concentration range of 0.01~10 μ mol l-1,abscisic acid can effectively induce stomatal closure, and the stomatal diameter decreases with the increase of abscisic acid concentration. In the lower concentration range, the stomatal response on the epidermis in vitro is more sensitive, but in the higher concentration, the stomatal closure on the leaves is more obvious.
