Which cartoon did you like best when you were a child?

When I was a child, I watched countless cartoons, but what impressed me the most was Nine Colors Deer.

Although it has not been replayed many times, it is deeply engraved in my memory, so that I can't even believe that this is an animation with only 24 minutes. The reason why this work left such a deep impression on me was mainly due to its exotic artistic style and interpretation of the truth of karma, which was unique at that time and now.

The plot of this animation is not complicated. The nine-color deer, who has divine power and likes to help others, was betrayed by the snake charmer who saved himself. After some fighting, the malicious person was punished as he deserved. Although it lasted only 24 minutes, it vividly described the goodness and evil of human nature, the greed and ugliness of kingship, and explained the "causal cycle" in Buddhist culture. Kindness is always good.

As an adult, I also checked behind the scenes of this animation, and it was amazing: this seemingly simple children's animation was actually adapted from the Dunhuang mural "Deer King Ben Sheng", and the creator added his own understanding of Buddhism while maintaining the painting style of ancient Buddhism. For this work, the creative team set out from Shanghai and traveled to Dunhuang for two months. They stayed in the Mogao Grottoes for 23 days and copied 265,438+0 murals and 5 sketches. It took only 24 minutes to achieve this achievement.

In the cartoon, the shape of the mountain, the color of the lake and the color of the land are almost the same as those in the mural above.

It is based on this craftsman spirit that "Nine-colored Deer" can shine in people's hearts with the glory of disappearing for thousands of years, thus becoming the memory of our generation.

Although it has been 30 years since this animation, I still sincerely recommend it. Classic things will never go out of date, just like the beauty, goodness and righteousness represented by the nine-color deer will not fade with the changes of the times.
