Is the pressure regulating valve the same as the pressure relief valve?

Pressure regulating valve is different from pressure reducing valve.

Pressure regulating valve is a kind of regulating device, which adjusts the stroke of the valve according to different needs, so that the pressure behind the valve reaches a given value. A pressure relief valve is a protective device, which is usually closed. Only when the system pressure exceeds a certain value, in order to protect the equipment from overpressure, it is urgently opened to discharge the working medium and reduce the system pressure. There is also a container-type regulating device with a pressure relief valve, which can be opened or closed to drive the piston to achieve the purpose of regulation.

The pressure regulating valve can stay at any opening, and the pressure relief valve can only have two positions: open and closed.
