Back to her mother's house on the second day of the first month
The second day of the first lunar month is the second day of the lunar year in China, and it is also the second day of the first lunar month. It is between beginning of spring and rain. According to Dong Fangshuo, a famous literary historian in the Western Han Dynasty, the first day of the first month is a chicken, the second day is a dog, the third day is a pig, the fourth day is a sheep, the fifth day is a cow, the sixth day is a horse, the seventh day is a man, and the eighth day is a valley. Because of this, traditionally, the second day of the first month is called dog day or dog day. The ancients thought that this day was a dog festival, so dog meat could not be eaten on this day. On this day, in the old society of our country, there are customs such as returning to one's mother's family and offering sacrifices to the god of wealth, which are important activities to celebrate the Spring Festival. On the second day of the first month, the married daughter took her husband and children back to her parents' home for the New Year. In the north, it is the third day of the first month. The so-called going back to her parents' home, of course, means that the married daughter takes her husband's children home to pay a New Year call to her parents. Why must it be grade two instead of grade one? In the past, superstition believed that the deceased ancestors descended from the sky at the end of the year and went home to enjoy sacrifices. If they see "outsiders" at home, they don't want to go home Because married women are considered as "outsiders", married people can't spend New Year's Eve and the first day at home. After the ancestors enjoyed the sacrifice, they returned to the sky on the morning of the first or second day, and the daughters could go home. This rule was used in the old society, especially in the countryside. It is very strict, and it is disrespectful to violate it. Later, although people did not believe in ghosts and gods, they still strictly followed them. If, for some special reason, the married daughter spends the New Year at home, her parents, family and herself will be very unhappy. This is also a long-standing cultural phenomenon. "Going home" is also called "mothering". On the second day of the Lunar New Year, when my daughter returns to her parents' house, she must make a big bag of biscuits and sweets and distribute them to her neighbors by her mother, just like the scene of the New Year. If there are many daughters at home and these daughters don't come back that day, send them one at a time, and the gift is quite thin, just four biscuits. But it reflects the deep affection, the real "courtesy is light and affection is heavy", and expresses the girl's miss for the villagers. When the girl goes home, if there is a nephew at home, menstruation has to pay again. Although it was the "lucky money" given by her on the first day, it has a different meaning this time. This custom is called "eating midnight snack" by Chaoshan people in Guangdong. As the name implies, it's just lunch, and the daughter must get back to her husband's house before dinner.
