Astronomers in ancient China named seasons, climate and agricultural production to reflect seasonal climate and guide agricultural time.
Twenty-four solar terms originated in the Yellow River Basin. Among them, four "Li" (beginning of spring, long summer, beginning of autumn and beginning of winter) are the beginning of the four seasons, and two "Fens" (vernal equinox and autumnal equinox) and two "Straight" (summer and winter) are the first half of the four seasons.
For example, this year's beginning of autumn falls on August 7th, which is beginning of autumn, and September 22nd is the autumnal equinox, which is half of autumn, so it can be counted as late autumn before beginning of winter.
