Because the huge bison can't enter the amphibious landing ship of the Russian navy, they must sail on their own; The cost of bison class is also much higher than that of ordinary personnel/mechanical landing craft, so it is difficult to build and deploy in large quantities. Bison hull adopts solid buoy structure, which has good stability and sea erosion resistance. Bison-shaped hull is welded by aluminum-magnesium alloy, which has high strength and corrosion resistance. The interior of the two-layer air cushion is divided into many areas, and local damage will not cause the whole air cushion to leak completely, similar to the watertight compartment of a ship.

Bison boat hull is divided into three parts by two longitudinal watertight compartments, and the areas on both sides are used for setting engine room, accommodation and living facilities for crew and troops on board. These two areas have nuclear, biological and chemical protection capabilities. The residential area is equipped with air conditioning system and ventilation system, with sound insulation and heat insulation measures, and even the seismic structure is connected to the computer room. The middle area is a large garage deck with a width of about 5 meters, which is used to load various types of vehicle equipment and drive in/out directly through springboard doors located at the bow and stern. In order to enhance the survival rate under beachhead fire, the Bison hull is equipped with armor plates, which can provide a certain degree of protection for the crew. Bison can carry 150 tons of materials, such as three 40-ton T-80 main battle tanks, or eight BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, or 10 бтр-80 armored vehicles (or 130 tons of materials) and 65430. The other two MT-70 gas turbines drive four NO- 10 lift fans with a diameter of 2.5m, which are arranged on both sides of the middle and rear section of the hull to provide the power needed by the air-cushion lift fans. Each MT-70 gas turbine weighs 3.5 tons. The efficiency is 36% when the maximum power is 8700KW( 1 1670 HP), and about 3 1.5% when the power is 6700KW (about 9000 HP).

The power required for the Bison class is provided by two gas turbine generators, each with a power of 100kw (or five Volvo Penta diesel generator sets). The maximum speed of Bison class is 60 knots, and it can sail 300 nautical miles in 55 knots, and it can work at sea for 5 days without replenishment, and it can work at sea for one day when it is fully landed.
