Appreciation of Blue and White Porcelain (Vincent Fang) First of all, I would like to share with you the creative process of filling this "Blue and White Porcelain" in Jay's new album. Some time ago, I met a few friends who appreciate antique artworks. During the chat with them, I talked about the past and present for thousands of years, sometimes bronzes, sometimes Song porcelain, and sometimes Ming and Qing furniture, which led me to use those artworks handed down from China as the motivation for the Song title. The first thing that came to mind at that time was bronzes. Originally, bronze wares cast in the Yin and Shang Dynasties were used as the song title, and the thickness of bronze symbolized the faithfulness and truthfulness of love. Compare the vicissitudes of the world with the mottled copper rust of the Millennium; Explain the mystery of the oath with the incomprehensible inscription on the container. But when I first started writing, I found that Jay's Blue and White Porcelain was gentle and euphemistic, elegant and refined, so that my mind was full of pictures of misty rain in the south of the Yangtze River. Because the bronzes at that time were also made into weapons to kill the enemy, it seemed that the word "bronze" was too heavy and clumsy, full of the smell of killing people, so the lyrics that were still being conceived were given up before writing.

Later, I chose Ruyao porcelain, which was very popular in the Song Dynasty, mainly because of its rarity. Due to the war, kiln glaze formula and firing process, there are only more than 70 treasures handed down from ancient times in Ru kiln, which is a national treasure and precious. But the problem comes again, because the pure top-grade Ru kiln has only one color, that is, "sky blue", without fancy ornamentation at all, and its shape is simple and elegant. In my opinion, it's like the works of today's minimalist masters. Although the connotation is simple and the texture is lasting, I always feel that it is not enough to describe treacherous and changeable love with love and hate. Although Ru Yao was not used as the title of the lyrics in the end, in the process of collecting writing materials, the future was achieved because there was a saying that "the sky was blue and the clouds broke after the rain". I was inspired to write the first sentence of the chorus, "misty rain is like sky blue." It is said that this sentence came from Song Huizong, because at that time, Ru kiln was exclusively used by the Song royal family, and when the kiln official asked to name its color after firing Ru kiln porcelain, the royal family approved: "After the rain, Qingyun broke, so color will be the future." From then on, azure is the color name of Ru kiln porcelain. But later, I gave up using Ruyao as the song title. Besides its characteristics, it is not suitable for lingering love. The name Ruyao is a bit too sad. After many twists and turns, the song was finally named Blue and White Porcelain, which was first burned in the Tang Dynasty and lasted for more than 1000 years in the early China.
