The meaning of remembering brothers on a moonlit night.

On a moonlit night, I remember my brother Tang Du Fu's garrison (shù) drumming up pedestrians, while the autumn geese sounded. The dew turns to frost tonight, and the moonlight at home is bright! Brothers are scattered, and no one can ask about life and death. Letters sent to Luoyang city are often not delivered, and wars often do not stop.

1. My brother: This refers to my brother. 2. Shout drums: Shout drums upstairs. 3. Breaking people away: refers to the curfew after the drum sounds. 4 Border Autumn: A work called Autumn Border, the edge of autumn, and the autumn bordering the border. He knows that the dew tonight will be frost: it refers to the "white dew" night on the day of integrity. 6. Oh, my brothers, what's the point of my life without you? When the brothers are separated, the family is gone, and neither of them can know the news of life and death. 7. Dragon: All the time. 8. David Attenborough: Yes. 9. The situation is: What's more. 10. No truce: the war is not over yet.

Translation of works

The drums on the garrison building cut off people's communication. In autumn, a lonely goose is singing. Starting from tonight, entering the Millennium solar terms, the moon is still the brightest time in my hometown. Brothers are scattered, and life and death are homeless. Letters sent to Luoyang city are often not delivered, not to mention frequent wars.

Creation background

This poem was written by Du Fu in Qin Zhou in the autumn of 759 AD. In September this year, during the Anshi Rebellion, An Lushan and Shi Siming led troops from Fan Yang to the south, captured Bianzhou and entered Luoyang in the west. Shandong and Henan are at war. At that time, Du Fu's younger brothers were scattered in this area, and because of the war, there was no communication, which made him feel intense anxiety and yearning. Remembering Brothers on a Moonlit Night is a true record of his thoughts and feelings at that time. In the poem, the two brothers were separated by the war and never heard from each other. Watching the autumn night and the moon dew in a foreign land with drums and lonely geese can only double the feeling of homesickness and missing my brother. Du Fu, an exiled poet, is even more sad for his country when he sees the broken mountains and rivers and misses his brother who doesn't know life and death.
