Who knows what customs there are in Dujiangyan, Sichuan?
On April 5th, in Tomb-Sweeping Day, more than 400 worshippers dressed in ancient costumes of the Han Dynasty, under the guidance of "Shu County Order", recreated the grand occasion of Dujiangyan Water Supply Festival in the Han Dynasty more than 1000 years ago. In 250 BC, Li Bing, the local governor of Sichuan, led the coastal people to build Dujiangyan. Since then, Chengdu Plain has been called "Tianfu" in history. In order to commemorate Li Bing, the local people changed the original "water festival" to "Li Bing Festival". Dujiangyan has been adhering to the strict "annual maintenance" system since its restoration: in the dry season of winter every year, the Minjiang River is cut off at the head of the canal to maintain Dujiangyan, and then the dam is removed for irrigation in the following spring. During the Northern Song Dynasty, Tomb-Sweeping Day was officially designated as the "Water Festival" and held a grand sacrificial ceremony.
