The difference of accelerator pedal

The end of the accelerator pedal of the cable accelerator is connected with a steel cable, which leads to the accelerator. The accelerator is directly controlled by the steel cable when stepping on the accelerator, just like the steel cable of the handbrake. The accelerator pedal structure is relatively simple, purely mechanical, without plugs and wires.

The electronic accelerator is adapted to the electronic accelerator pedal, which is a potentiometer with many wires on it. All the actions of stepping on the accelerator are converted into electrical signals and transmitted to ECU.

Difference of foot feeling

Because the other end of the cable-type accelerator pedal drives the accelerator, there is a certain friction resistance between the accelerator cable and the pipeline, so the pedal is slightly heavier. Moreover, because the cable itself has a certain tension, the accelerator pedal basically has a certain virtual position. That is to say, if you tap the accelerator pedal with your toes, the pedal will move slightly, but in fact the accelerator is not moving. At this time, as long as you tighten the cable, it will become heavier if you step on it.

The structure of electronic accelerator pedal is complicated. Because the potentiometer is inside, it is lighter to step on, and the resistance is the same all the time. Moreover, the electronic accelerator pedal is accurate inside and has no virtual position. When the tiptoe is lightly stepped on, it either does not move or generates a signal to increase the engine speed.

The idle motor controls the air intake at idle speed. Because the valve plate of the cable-type throttle is completely closed after the accelerator pedal is released, the engine can't intake air, so the cable-type throttle has a bypass pipe to provide an intake passage for idle speed, and the idle speed motor controls the air flow of the bypass pipe to control idle speed.
