The use of twenty-four solar terms in drum tower

Each drum face of Xi 'an Drum Tower corresponds to different solar terms and is also equipped with different drum rhymes, which is a highlight of Xi 'an Drum Tower. Twenty-four solar terms were formally established in the Qin and Han Dynasties two thousand years ago. It is said that everything grows by the sun. Our ancestors were very clever. They can not only judge the time of the day according to the height of the sun, but also divide the day into 24 equal parts according to the trajectory of the sun in a year. Each bisection is a solar term, from beginning of spring to the end of the Great Cold, and so on.

In the international meteorological field, our 24 solar terms are known as "the fifth invention of China".
