Mango is the ninth of the 24 solar terms in China.

Compared with the first eight solar terms, the rainfall during the awning period is still increasing, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are about to enter the rainy season. Therefore, the poet Zhao Shixiu wrote in "Guest": In Huangmei season, it rains at home, and frogs are everywhere in the grass pond. This poem is a vivid description of the weather at this time.

"Meiyu" refers to a long period of continuous rainfall or cloudy weather, which usually occurs between June and July. This is the season when plums are ripe, hence the name. Meiyu period is a good time for rice, vegetables and fruits to grow.

People make all kinds of cakes with wheat flour and then color them with vegetable juice. People use these cakes as offerings to pray for a bumper harvest and personal safety.
