Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, Autumn Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Moonlight Festival, Moon Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Reunion Festival, is a traditional folk festival in China.
On the Mid-Autumn Festival, there are folk customs such as offering sacrifices to the moon, enjoying the moon, eating moon cakes, playing with lanterns, enjoying osmanthus and drinking osmanthus wine. Mid-Autumn Festival, Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day and Dragon Boat Festival are also called the four traditional festivals in China.
The Mid-Autumn Festival originated from the worship of celestial phenomena and evolved from the worship of the autumn moon in ancient times. At first, the "Moon Festival" was the "autumnal equinox" among the 24 solar terms, and later it was transferred to the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, and in some places it was the 16th day of the eighth lunar month.
