Advantages and disadvantages of fatty acid-oil method of preparing alkyd resin

Fatty acid synthesis process is relatively simple, is a fatty acid, polyol, polyacid direct esterification, time-consuming and short.

While the synthesis of alkyd with oil first use polyol to alcoholysis of oil, and then add polyacids for esterification and dehydration. It takes longer time.

But fatty acids are more expensive than oil. You have to realize that many natural vegetable oils in nature exist as oils. Fatty acids are converted from oil by some other process.

As for the alkyd resins synthesized from the two, there should not be much difference in performance.
