What is the circumcision of African girls?

Female circumcision is a ritual that is performed between the ages of four and eight. The purpose is to remove some sexual organs to avoid sexual pleasure and ensure that girls are still virgins before marriage, and even remain faithful to their husbands after marriage.

Circumcision is carried out by the girl's mother and female relatives, and the father must stand outside the door to symbolically guard the work. After the operation is completed, the mother will sew both sides of the vulva with a locust needle, leaving only a small mouth to excrete urine and menstrual blood. The smaller the artificial hole, the higher the value of girls.

Background of female circumcision:

Compared with 1940s, the prevalence of female circumcision in Egypt 15 to 19 years old decreased from 96% to 8 1%. In Ethiopia, Eritrea and Gambia, almost all women have to undergo this painful operation, and in Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines, many people have been circumcised.
