Why "辞海" instead of "词海"?

In a nutshell, "Cihai" is a relatively early Chinese tome, while "词海" is a later Chinese term for a variety of words that describes "words" very much, and there are books like the similar "XXX 词海 There are also books like "XXX Words Sea" and so on.
