Can you tell me the advantages and disadvantages of computerized music relative to traditional music production?
1. Computerized production saves time and economy. In traditional compositions, the composer has to write the piece in his head and then give it to the performer(s) and modify it according to the performance. If the piece is a large symphony, it can be very troublesome to modify. However, with a computer, you can hear the effects synchronized, and it's easy to modify the notes; and most importantly, you can save a lot of money.
2. The computerized timbre is more free. First of all, the traditional compositional tone matching is limited by many factors: for example, before the invention of microphone, the guitar has almost no place in classical music due to its low volume; however, now we can often hear the combination of guitar strings. Secondly, computer production can be more creative by providing many tones that can't be realized in reality, or effects like anti-reverb for example.
Disadvantages:
1. Computer-produced music is not yet as fine a simulation of real instruments. If you do it casually, the tone will be very fake; if you want to do it finely, the adjustment of strength, envelope, and the switching of different playing methods are all very troublesome and need to spend a lot of time.
2. It requires a high level of computer performance.
Purely by hand!
The most popular way to compose a symphony is to make a small sample on the computer, which can be modified sufficiently, and then get a real orchestra to play it.
