Suggested Treatment Plan for Influenza A (H1N1) Prevention and Treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Referring to the Ministry of Health's "Diagnosis and Treatment Program for Human Swine Influenza (2009 Edition)", with its TCM identification and treatment program:

1. Toxicity attacks the lungs and guards.

Symptoms: fever, malignant cold, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, cough.

Treatment: clearing away heat and removing toxins, promoting the lungs to penetrate the evil.

Reference formula: roasted ephedra, almonds, gypsum, chaihu, scutellaria, burdock, qiangwu, raw licorice.

Commonly used proprietary Chinese medicines: Lotus Qingdian capsule, silver and yellow preparations, Shuanghuanglian oral preparations.

2. Poisoning of the lungs and stomach.

Symptoms: fever, or malignant cold, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, head and body, muscle pain.

Treatment: clearing away heat and removing toxins, resolving dampness and harmonizing the middle.

Reference formula: Pueraria lobata, Scutellaria baicalensis, Rhizoma Coptidis, Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Huo Xiang, Jiang Han Xia, Su Ye, Hou Pu.

Commonly used Chinese patent medicines: Ge Ge Gen Baicalin Lian Wei Pill, Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Preparation, etc.

3. Toxic congestion of the qi camp.

Symptoms: high fever, cough, chest tightness and breath holding, shortness of breath, irritability, or even delirium.

Treatment: clearing Qi and cooling the camp.

Reference formula: sizzling ephedra, almonds, piper betel, raw rhubarb, gypsum, red peony, water horn.

Angong Niu Huang Pills, as well as phlegm-heat clearing, hematopoietin, Qing Kai Ling, and Wake Up Brain Jing injection can be used if necessary.
