What kind of sauce is good for grilled rice cakes?

Great Japanese soy sauce on these rice cakes! The skin is baked to a golden brown and crispy, the inside is soft and sticky, and it will be fried into flowers in the oven

As soon as winter comes, I can't keep track of these hot little treats. I bought Japanese rice cakes, and they're super easy to make.
