The total number of legal holidays*** is calculated according to the Measures for National Holidays on Annual Festivals and Commemorative Days issued by the State Council of the People's Republic of China*** and the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

According to Article 2 of the Measures for National Holidays on Annual Festivals and Commemorative Days:

Festivals on which all citizens are given a holiday:

(c) Qingming Festival, a holiday of 1 day (the day of Qingming in the lunar calendar);?

(F) Mid-Autumn Festival, a holiday of 1 day (the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival in the lunar calendar);?

In December 2007, the State Council amended the Measures for the third time, shortening the Labor Day holiday, effectively eliminating the "May Day Golden Week," but putting the Ching Ming, Dragon Boat and Mid-Autumn festivals into the vacation system, allowing all citizens to take a vacation. The number of vacation days for all citizens has increased from 10 to 11 days.
