Seven common user analysis and testing methods?

With the change of users' needs, more and more product designs require the design concept of experience design. Let's take a look at Tiantongyuan computer training today. From the perspective of enterprises, what methods can be used to test the user experience?

questionnaire method

Questionnaire survey is one of the most common and widely used methods. It is a data collection method that asks a specific group of people questions in written form and asks the respondents to answer them in written or oral form. The questionnaire can be filled in by many interviewees in a large range at the same time, so a large amount of data can be collected in a short time. Compared with traditional survey methods, online survey has obvious advantages in organization and implementation, information collection, information processing and survey effect. However, it is not easy to make a good questionnaire, especially in the formulation of questionnaire objectives, design problems, copy writing and so on.

usability test

Usability testing refers to a series of methods used to improve the usability of products in the design process. In a typical usability test, user researchers will design a series of operation tasks according to the test objectives, observe the actual use of products by 5 ~ 10 users through the process of completing these tasks, especially find out the problems and reasons encountered by these users, and finally achieve the test objectives. After the test is completed, the user researcher will make suggestions for improvement according to the problems.

Eye movement test

For individuals, 80% ~ 90% of external information is obtained through eyes, and eye movements have certain regularity. The eye movement test is to record the eye movement process of the user when browsing the page and the degree of attention to different plates through the eye movement instrument (see figure 1-9). Through the eye movement test, we can understand the user's browsing behavior and evaluate the design effect. The eye tracker records the changes of the reflection path of cornea to infrared rays, calculates the movement process of eyes, and calculates the gaze position of eyes.

User interview

Different from questionnaire survey, you can have a longer and deeper communication with users in interviews, and you can communicate directly with users through face-to-face communication and telephone calls. The interview method is simple to operate, can dig deep into the interviewees' hearts and opinions, and can easily achieve ideal results, so it is also a common user research method. Interview is generally used when there are few respondents, so it is often used in combination with other methods such as questionnaire and test.

Focus group

Focus group is one of the commonly used research methods in user research projects. According to the principle of group dynamics, a focus group should consist of 6-8 people. Under the guidance of professional hosts, a topic or concept is discussed in depth in an unstructured or semi-structured way, so as to gain some creative opinions on related issues. Focus groups are especially suitable for exploratory research, collecting ideas and inspiring ideas for products by understanding users' attitudes, behaviors, habits and needs.
