释义
Kong Rong (孔融), with the character of Wenju (文举), was a native of Qufu of the Eastern Han Dynasty. When he was a child, Kong Rong was a smart and studious man, with a quick mind and clever answers, everyone praised him as a strange child. 4 years old, he could already recite many poems and songs by heart, and he also knew the manners and etiquettes, so his parents loved him very much. One day, his father bought some pears and specially picked the biggest pear for Kong Rong. Kong Rong shook his head but picked the smallest pear and said, "I am the youngest, I should eat the smallest pear, so give that pear to your brother." The father was very surprised to hear this. The story of Kong Rong giving up his pear soon spread all over Qufu, and has been passed down, becoming a good example for many parents to educate their children.
