Why can popcorn explode so big?

There are three kinds of popcorn, one is popcorn, the other is rice, and the third is millet. Ordinary popcorn is made by putting corn, ghee and sugar into a popcorn machine.

Why does popcorn pop?

1, heating makes the volume of air and water vapor inside expand, high heat makes the water vapor speak, and the corn skin can't bear the expanded gas and explodes to form porous fluffy popcorn;

2. During the heating process, the temperature in the pot is rising, and the pressure of the gas in the pot is also increasing. When the temperature rises to a certain extent, the rice grains will gradually soften and most of the water in the rice grains will turn into steam. Because of the high temperature, the pressure of water vapor is great, which makes the softened rice grains expand. But at this time, the pressure inside and outside the rice grains is balanced, so the rice grains will not explode in the pot;

3. When the pressure in the pot rises to 4-5 atmospheres, the top cover of the popcorn pot suddenly opens, the gas in the pot expands rapidly, and the pressure drops rapidly, which increases the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the rice grains, resulting in the rapid expansion of high-pressure steam in the rice grains, which instantly explodes the rice grains into popcorn.
