What about Foucault's theory of "discourse as power"?
Discourse can be a right or a power. "Right" is because everyone has the right to speak, everyone has the right to speak and express their will. "Power" is a little more complicated. Personally, I feel that it is not "discourse is right" but "discourse is power". Let's talk about my understanding of "speech as power".
Power supports discourse!
An organization or an individual with high power has a greater sense of power over his or her own words, and is able to comfortably control other people's conversations and even aggressively invade other people's words when talking to them. I can give you an example. The court is a more powerful institution, and so the judge's words in the courtroom reflect the power of his institution, the court. The judge's words are then very powerful.
I hope my understanding helps you!
