Nankai University Green Action Group's Specialty Activities
Environmental classroom
Our environmental classroom started in September 2001, and now we have formed two distinctive project groups, namely, community education and primary and secondary school education.
Since September 2001, we have been conducting community environmental classes in the communities of Yingshui Dongli, Yingxi Jili, and Fengyuan Nanli, creating another "first for a college club in Tianjin" and winning awards from the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Nankai District and promoting it vigorously. Until now, Tianjin has formed a environmental protection bureau led by the association of colleges and universities, college students lectured in the "environmental classroom into the community" of the grand situation.
From September 2002 to the present, we have brought the environmental classroom into primary and secondary schools, and have contacted five cooperative schools that have been holding environmental classrooms for a long time. In each mission, nearly 100 primary and secondary school students and parents participated in the activities. Under the leadership of the missionaries, the classroom atmosphere is active, and everyone asks questions and participates in the activities enthusiastically. In the mission, a combination of indoor education and outdoor games are used to let the children learn about environmental protection from the games.
In order to stimulate the enthusiasm in the classroom, we also try to adopt more attractive ways, such as drama performances, so that they can learn about environmental protection in the entertainment. 2006 November, we cooperated with the Tianjin Museum of Nature and several communities in Nankai District, to perform a drama on the theme of "Caring for Animals, Concern for Environmental Protection". We wrote and performed three plays, "Sleeping Beauty", "King of Seals" and "Journey to the West for Environmental Protection", which took environmental protection as the theme and presented a relaxing yet profound environmental protection feast to different visitors from all walks of life, and made people start to think about the importance of environmental protection and the sense of urgency at the same time while enjoying the fun.
Bird Watching and Bird Loving
Bird watching and bird loving activities during the May 1 and November holidays every year have always been one of the most popular and classic activities among Green Line members. We make full use of Tianjin's wetlands and migratory bird areas, organize members to birdwatch, make birdwatching records, and improve the knowledge and environmental awareness of club members in the field practice activities. Through bird-watching activities we pay attention to the survival of birds and bring out the ecological problems of wetlands.
In 2004, more than 100 members of the Green Line went to the Qilihai and Tuanpuwa wetlands in batches to watch birds. In the same year, we also organized a part of our members to carry out research around the Tianjin bird market. in May and October 2005, and in May 2006, more than a hundred members went to Tanggu and Beidagang in batches to watch birds.
Environmental Celebrity Lectures
In order to improve the environmental awareness and environmental literacy of the members of the club as well as the students outside the club, we invite environmental celebrities and teachers to give lectures from time to time. The lectures allow us to see the style of environmental protection volunteers, and at the same time enhance the influence of the Green Line on campus and beyond.
(1) In November 2004, we invited Dr. Jenny Goodall, a famous zoologist and "patron saint of chimpanzees," to give a lecture at Nankai.
In 1960, at the age of 26, Dr. Jane Goodall, in her love for chimpanzees, went to the dense rainforest on the banks of the Tanganyangambi River on the western shore of Lake Nyika in Tanzania, which is off the beaten track, to spend time with chimpanzees and to observe them at close range. By 1996, Dr. Jane Goodall had been on the path of studying, protecting wild and caged chimpanzees for exactly thirty-six years. It is the longest-running piece of human animal research to date, and Jane Goodall's discovery has been hailed as one of the greatest scientific achievements of the Western world.
Driven by her love of animals, Dr. Goodall launched Roots & Shoots in her later years to protect wildlife and our environment. Roots and Shoots groups have spread all over the world, and the Nankai University Green Action Group is one of these many groups.
In November 2004, we were fortunate to have Dr. Jane Goodall come to Nankai to give a lecture. The lecture was very well received by the students, and the room was packed.
(2) In April 2005, we invited Guo Geng, a famous environmentalist, to give a lecture:
Mr. Guo Geng's lecture was wonderful and unusual, and he introduced us to a lot of information about the current situation of people getting along with the environment. He also introduced his own creative ideas: the tombstone of extinct animals made of dominoes, etc. The audience not only learned from Mr. Guo Keng's lecture, but also from his own ideas. The audience not only learned more about nature, the environment and the earth from Mr. Guo Geng's lecture, but also thought y about their own behavior from Mr. Guo Geng's talk. We invited a reporter from Tianjin TV station to record the whole lecture, which expanded the publicity of the lecture and made more people think about the topic of environmental protection together with the audience on the spot
(3) In October, 2005, we organized the "Jia Zizheng Interview", which was a change from the usual single mode of lecture by the teacher. In October 2005, we organized the "Jia Zizheng Interview", which was a change from the usual single mode of lecture by the teacher, and took the form of an interview, which attracted everyone's attention.
This activity conveyed the spirit of Mr. Jia's contribution to the environmental protection cause to everyone, awakened the conscience of more people in the society, and inspired those who are dedicating themselves to the environmental protection cause to continue to struggle. It also conveys to Mr. Jia everyone's emotion and admiration, hoping that everyone's love can give him the greatest support and support him on the road of environmental protection.
Biography of Mr. Jia Zizheng: In order to protect animals and promote environmental protection, he gave up his job, sold his family's assets, and went through the pain and suffering of having his wife leave him, and now he has put down his daughter, who is a senior in high school, and rode a tricycle from his hometown of Hegang to Hong Kong, promoting environmental protection along the way. His "Ten Thousand Animals" was recognized as the Guinness Book of World Records for having ten thousand animals in the painting.
(4) In September 2006, we had the honor of inviting Mr. Yuan Jianming to Nankai Park to promote his "Environmental Protection Journey", and at the same time, he gave us a wonderful lecture.
The activity was combined with exhibition board publicity, signing donations and other activities, the scene was very enthusiastic. Students were impressed by Mr. Yuan's will and ambition and applauded continuously.
Yuan Jianming, a native of Tianshui, Gansu. Born in 1972, he suffered from polio at the age of three and was left with a lifelong disability. However, after seeing countless incidents of environmental destruction, he is determined to "use the spirit of disability to awaken the children of China, *** with the protection of the environment, protect the home, protect the Mother River, protect the nature, *** to build harmony."
Scientific practice
With the enhancement of people's awareness of environmental protection, pure environmental propaganda and preaching has gradually fallen behind the times. Closely integrating environmental protection propaganda and environmental protection practice to complement each other is our new goal.
Classical activities are as follows:
(1)Survey on the water situation in Tianjin (won the third prize of the first national college students' survey on water situation in 2004)
This survey is carried out on two aspects, one is the pollution and protection of water resources in Tianjin, and the other is the survey on the awareness of water conservation of Tianjin citizens, and the survey area we chose to represent the two groups of Tianjin citizens, namely, the community and the school. In the survey area, we chose communities and schools to represent the two major groups of Tianjin citizens. Through the school, community survey, from the water conservation, water pollution into two aspects, from the social, psychological, economic and institutional aspects of the comprehensive analysis of the current situation of water resources in Tianjin and the way to solve the problem.
(2) November 2005 campus water appliances survey:
This activity involves the entire campus, by the majority of teachers and students of strong support. Through the survey statistics, basically come up with the campus water appliances breakage and water waste. So that we have a more intuitive way to realize that saving is a little bit of ordinary, so as to better carry out the savings in life.
(3) In the second half of 2006, we started the recycling activity of used batteries in the whole school
During the activity, we grouped the participating members into groups and were responsible for recycling used batteries in each dormitory. The recycled batteries will be summarized and handed over to the battery recycling organization. Members will have a group presentation at the regular meeting to show the recycling of batteries and the knowledge about it
Used batteries are environmental killers that often haunt the campus, and they are also the most worthwhile program to do the activity. Every Green Line member will set up a battery recycling box in each dormitory, and this activity is mainly to eliminate the hidden danger by entering the dormitories as a means of eliminating the waste batteries in the campus. This activity will also empty the batteries in the recycling boxes so that students can put them into the recycling boxes in the future.
(4) To carry out the "Refuse Disposable Chopsticks" publicity and practical activities
We organized members to make exhibition boards (including the situation of disposable chopsticks being widely used, the revelation of the production, processing and storage conditions, the hazards to health, the destruction of vegetation, and the refusal of disposable chopsticks warning posters), and fixed the boards to the campus, so that the students could have access to them. The display boards were fixed on the bridge over the Xiaoyin River to create a visual impact on passers-by as a long-term publicity. Leaflets and questionnaires were distributed, and slogans such as "Refuse Disposable Chopsticks" and "Disposable Chopsticks are Harmful to Health" were posted in conspicuous places in the cafeteria and dormitories.
At the same time, we held a large-scale prize competition at the entrance of the cafeteria to encourage people to learn about the hazards of disposable chopsticks, with prizes such as ironwood chopsticks, environmental protection cloth bags, portable resin chopsticks, rice spoons and environmental protection cloth bags.
In conjunction with the publicity campaign, we negotiated with the school's logistics and cafeteria departments to minimize the supply of disposable chopsticks in the cafeteria.
This campaign publicized the hazards of disposable chopsticks, prompted the majority of students and teachers to consciously refuse disposable chopsticks, and thus cracked down on the market for vendors selling disposable chopsticks to the school. The campaign will help students and teachers to understand the health hazards of disposable chopsticks and to raise their awareness of self-protection, so as to protect the dietary hygiene of Nankai students and teachers. Further strengthen the concept of environmental protection of college students, so that the concept of environmental protection more living in the hearts of the people, and establish the awareness of college students to start from the side of environmental protection.
"Green Culture Festival" series of activities
In the spring of 2006, we formally launched the "Green Culture Festival" series of activities, and are ready to continue as the traditional culture of the Green Line. In the Green Culture Festival, we closely combine publicity and practice; we mobilize all the members of the association and encourage them to plan and carry out activities according to the form of project teams, and at the same time, cooperate with each other; we combine the traditional culture of the Green Bank for several years with the spirit of innovation, and make some activities that are both inherited and very distinctive.
The first Green Culture Festival:
〈1〉"Save electricity, start from me" large-scale electricity saving publicity activities
Through the flexible and innovative form of questions and answers, students can understand the knowledge about electricity saving and scientific use of electricity, to raise the level of attention, and to establish the awareness of electricity saving.
〈2〉"Greening campus, distribution of spring" distribution of flower seeds activities
Spreading green, youthful vitality, and enhance the feelings of the school campus for the majority of students to send out free flower seeds, flowers, soil, bottles (simple flower pots made from waste plastic bottles)
In this
In this "Send Spring" activity, not only the simple distribution of flower seeds, flower soil flower pots, but also take the opportunity to publicize the spirit of environmental protection, and advocate the use of waste plastic bottles to make their own simple flower pots, not only can save resources, reduce waste and pollution, but also let everyone experience the fun of doing it yourself, and cultivate an interest in flower gardening to integrate environmental protection into everyone's daily life.
〈3〉"Walk to the left, walk to the right -- let the garbage back to their homes" garbage sorting and recycling publicity activities
Calls on students to recognize and re-learn the types of garbage in their lives, and reasonably recycle resources to achieve resource recycling and build a saving Nankai.
The exhibition boards were made to introduce the distinction between recyclable and non-recyclable garbage, and students from the Green Line explained the knowledge of garbage classification and held a quiz with prizes on the classification of daily garbage.
〈4〉"4.22Earth Day Night" public welfare party and the closing ceremony of "Green Culture Festival"
The second Green Culture Festival---"Save" theme. "Save" theme activities:
Activities in April 2007 to start. This series of activities include the following components: "Green Storm" activities; recycling waste and DIY "Scrap Baby" collection activities; "Scrap Production, Waste to Treasure" theme show; "5 yuan a tree" of waste paper recycling to protect the Mother River four components p>
〈1〉. "Green Storm" activities
Through the full range of high-frequency propaganda into daily life, so that students have a more in-depth understanding and awareness of saving and how to save. We have set up a column in the radio station, inserted an environmental video in the campus theater when playing a movie, posted reminders on the bulletin board, next to the elevator, etc., and launched an online publicity on Nankai BBS to carry out a sweeping publicity of "green walk everywhere, environmental protection everywhere".
At the same time, we counted the number of leaky faucets in the dormitory buildings on campus and their specific locations, and placed green leather covers on each faucet to prevent water leakage. A survey report was written and submitted to the university as a reference, and displayed in the form of a poster.
〈2〉Recycling and DIY "Scrap Baby" Collection Activity
①The whole school collects waste products that can be used. In a few days in the school set up a fixed donation outlets, and then sent some students into the dormitory door-to-door purchase.
②The collected waste products will be categorized and some of them will be sold to the recycling station.
③Set up recycling boxes in each classroom and collect them regularly.
④Organize recycling centers to come to school to collect waste products regularly.
⑤Collecting and displaying "Scrap Baby" made of scrap items
〈3〉"5 yuan for a tree" of scrap recycling to protect the Mother River
This activity is complementary to the recycling of scrap items. And with the protection of the Mother River organization, waste recycling center. We will contact the "Protect the Mother River" organization to promote the event in the school, and contact the "Protect the Mother River" organization to give away the proceeds.
Through this activity, we can realize the serious shortage of resources in our country, and thus realize the importance of saving. We also hope that through the publicity of this activity, students can join in the saving activities, starting from the rational use of resources around us, and do a good job of resource conservation and recycling. Give full play to the wisdom of the students, widely solicit students in their daily lives to save small common sense, so as to give full play to the initiative and enthusiasm of the students to save, but also to make the concept of saving deep into the hearts of the people. Through regular contact with the recycling center to the school to collect waste goods, so that this activity can be carried out on a long-term basis, in the Nankai Park set off a wave of sustained savings boom.
Placement of recycling bins in the school and a good relationship with the recycling company, so the activity has a better continuity and promotion.
