Where does the Ruins of Farmers' Association in Duanyuan Township, Gaoyao belong to?
The Ruins of Farmers' Association of Duanyuan Township, Gaoyao is located in the north of Collar Village, Le Township, Gaoyao City. The site was originally the Chen Family Ancestral Hall of Collar Village, which was built at the end of the Ming Dynasty.
From 1923 to 1927, under the leadership of the Chinese ****production party and the promotion of the first national ****cooperation, the Duanyuan Township of Le Township, Gaoyao County (now 10 natural villages of Le Township, such as Collar Village, Bohe, Material Village, Kintui, and Fudong, etc.) set off a sensational agricultural movement that was the earliest and most influential in the Xijiang River area.
Beginning in August 1924, the Guangdong Regional Committee of the C*** sent Zhou Qijian, Chen Dengbang, Huang Chansheng, Wei Qirui, Cai Risheng and other members of the ****production party to Gaoyao County to carry out the agrarian movement.
On October 8, 1924, farmers in Duanyuan Township set up the Peasants' Guild of Duanyuan Township in the village of Lingcun (also known as the Peasants' Union of Workers), with the venue of the Chen Ancestral Hall of the village of Lingcun. The Central Peasants' Department, the Guangdong District Committee of the Central Government and the Provincial Hong Kong Committee sent representatives of Chen Shuren, Chen Weikang, Huang Chansheng and Zheng Qianli to attend the founding ceremony respectively. After the establishment of the Duanyuan Township Peasant Workers' Union, the first revolutionary action was to lead the peasants to carry out a rent reduction and rent resistance struggle against the landlords by applying a 50% discount on all rent reductions.
April 29, 1925, according to the constitution of the Provincial Farmers' Association, "Duanyuan Township Farmers' Association" was renamed "Duanyuan Township Farmers' Association". The farmers of Duan Yuan Township held the inaugural meeting of Duan Yuan Township Farmers' Association in the village. The Ministry of Peasants of the Central Government sent special commissioners Zhou Qijian, Wei Qirui, Luo Guojie, Xiong Kewu, Huang Guoman, and representatives of the students of Guangzhou Farmers' Lecture School, such as Deng Guanghua, Chen Junquan, Lu Yaomen, etc., to attend the meeting. Wei Qirui and others delivered speeches at the meeting to publicize the guidelines and policies of the Farmers' Movement, and presented plough flags and badges. The meeting elected the leadership of the Farmers' Association: Executive Chairman Xie Da De, Deputy Executive Chairman Chen Zuozhou, Secretary General Ng Kwok Fai, and Executive Member Ng Teng Chau. The meeting place of Tuan Yuan Township Farmers' Association is still located at Chen Family Ancestral Hall in the Collar Village. After the establishment of the Tuan Yuan Township Peasants' Association, it continued to demand that the landlords implement a 50% rent reduction.
Just as the development of the Gaoyao Farmers' Movement reached a climax, the landlords and gentry formed the Gaoyao (to be) Deqing (to be) Guangning (to be) three-county league, and led thousands of armed bandits to lay siege to Duanyuan Township in early January, 1926, and after the township's Bohai and Yuicun were conquered one after the other, the bandits' firepower was centered on the Collar Village. Peasant self-defense forces and members of the Farmers' Association were killed or injured more than 100 people, more than 200 houses were burned, 150 ploughing cows and more than 300 pigs were plundered, and all the household belongings were looted. This is shocked the province, affecting the country's "collar village incident" (also known as "Gao Yao tragedy"). The Chen Family Ancestral Hall, the meeting place of the Duanyuan Township Farmers' Association, was also burned down, leaving only the main entrance and the broken walls on both sides.
After the "Collar Village Incident" happened, it was strongly supported by Ye Ting's Independent Regiment of the Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army, who personally led his troops to Collar Village to suppress the landlord-army and punish the culprits. Zhou Qijian, director of the Guangdong Peasants' Association Office in Xijiang and secretary of the Xijiang Local Committee of the C***, led the farmers' army and cooperated with the Ye Ting Independent Corps in defeating the landlord Haokun's -armed forces. Ruan Xiaoxian, leader of the Central Peasants' Department, instructed the Provincial and Hong Kong - Committee to initiate donations to the farmers in Duanyuan Township, and all walks of life across the country showed solidarity with the revolutionary struggle of the farmers in Duanyuan Township. The Guangdong Regional Committee of the C*** contributed to the establishment of the "Sui-Wei Committee" by the Second National Congress of the Kuomintang, which had full authority to deal with the "Collar Village Incident", and through the participation of Mao Zedong, a member of the C***, who attended the Second National Congress of the Kuomintang in Guangzhou, the C*** was able to organize the "Sui-Wei Committee". Mao Zedong, Wu Yuzhang, Lin Zuhan, Dong Biwu, Tan Pingshan and other CPC members attending the Second National Congress of the Kuomintang in Guangzhou put forward six demands to the Congress to deal with the "Collar Village Incident". The Second Congress of the Kuomintang accepted the opinions of the CPC members and the participants, and formulated measures to deal with the "Collar Village Incident", which led to a smooth resolution of the "Collar Village Incident", and vigorously promoted the development of the agricultural movement in Gao Yao and even in Xijiang.
