Development of melodrama
The costumes of farce are mainly civilian costumes, which appear in traditional Vietnamese styles, such as women's four-piece suits. There is no stage or scenery during the performance, only ropes tied to wooden stakes are used to separate the actors from the audience. There are also few props. Accompaniment instruments include gongs, drums, flutes and huqin.
Since the burlesque was written and performed by farmers from the beginning, its content is based on the real life and folklore in rural areas, and it mainly satirizes the ugly phenomena of society, including the expressions of happiness, sadness and love for life, and a small number of historical dramas. Therefore, melodrama has national characteristics and life interest.
Some traditional songs such as Shuaiyun and Quanmin (Vietnamese) have become household names, and some programs with modern themes have also been recognized and loved by the audience. 1992, a modern farce theater with national characteristics was built in Hanoi.
