The story happened on an isolated island.

However, the background at the beginning is that in the big city of Seoul, a bank employee, Haiyuan Luyu, a woman who was pestered by hooligans, was given a cold shoulder when she asked for help. In the end, the woman died of violence. As a witness, Haiyuan chose silence after being threatened by hooligans. At the bank, she rudely refused a lonely old lady who came to borrow money. However, another kind colleague slapped the old lady after helping her with a loan, and then received a notice of suspension from the company.

Depressed, Haiyuan decided to go home for fun.

Her hometown, on this nameless island, needs a ferry to get there. Jin Funan, a childhood friend, came to meet her. Although Jin Funan has become a rough peasant woman, she is virtuous, kind, sunny and optimistic.

Jin Funan warmly received Haiyuan. However, a few days after she went to the island, Haiyuan found that Jin Funan was suffering from serious domestic violence. Her stupid husband treated Jin Funan like a pig and dog, always abusing and beating her. She chose to turn a blind eye when Jin Funan was violated by her brother-in-law. Not only that, she also recruited prostitutes from outside, completely ignoring the existence of Jin Funan.

In addition to these two mature men, there is a silent old man on the island. As the only survivor of a shipwreck in his early years, he was bullied and sexually assaulted by women in the village all the year round, and he was as harmless as dementia. Other old women also discriminated against Jin Funan, including Jin Funan's aunt, who turned a blind eye to Jin Funan's pain and even became an accomplice.

Jin Funan's greatest wish is that her only daughter can live in Seoul and live a decent life like Haiyuan. One day, however, she found that her daughter was also sexually assaulted by her husband. What is more frightening is that her weak and ignorant daughter does not agree with this. Jin Funan decided to ask Haiyuan for help. However, Haiyuan told her indifferently that it was more difficult to live in Seoul. For people like Haiyuan, the hardship of big cities and the indifference of interpersonal relationships are the world in her eyes.

Jin Funan had to turn to a prostitute who came to the island and leave here by boat with her daughter. Ironically, only this prostitute helped her. However, the boatman who came was actually with her husband, deliberately stalling until her husband grabbed Jin Funan's hair and dragged her back to abuse and beat her. She was entangled, pushed her daughter down, hit her head on a rock and died on the spot. Jin Funan is in pain. In the face of the police who came to investigate, her husband turned right from wrong, and the old lady in the village also helped to hide it. Jin Funan turned to Haiyuan again, and Haiyuan chose indifference again. When the police left, the old lady gave him a pile of money and things, and the matter went away.

Jin Funan lost all hope. Her aunt told her that she could forget the pain of losing her son if she tried hard. Under the scorching sun, she worked frantically, digging potatoes, and the old ladies ate and chatted under the arbor. Jin Funan stopped to look up at the sun, which was shining overhead. After a while, she made a decision.

She said the sun told her the answer, and the killing began.

Holding a sharp sickle, she first killed three old women under the arbor and laid hands on them decisively; Secondly, her aunt, the closest and most cold-blooded elder, forced her to fall off a cliff and die on a rock; Then came her husband and brother-in-law, who returned to the island and beheaded her directly by taking advantage of his flirting. The boatman who came together was cut off by the artery and hurriedly fled; Then her husband, but he subdued her. At the critical moment, she bit the dagger on the ground with her mouth, jumped on her husband's chest and stabbed him to death.

The rest is the boatman. Terrified Haiyuan pulled the boatman and ran away in a hurry. Jin Funan caught up with the boatman and fought together. Both of them fell into the sea. The boatman was hung by the propeller at the stern, and Haiyuan, who climbed aboard, fled the island in a hurry.

Haiyuan was the last person killed by Jin Funan.

At this point, she put on new clothes and even made up, but the expression on her face was no longer that passionate and hopeful Jin Funan, and her face was hung with the determination of despair and revenge.

Jin Funan, who left the island and boarded the dock, found the boat driven by Haiyuan. When she entered the police station, she found the policeman who handled the case, but Haiyuan had been stunned and handcuffed to the upstairs room. Haiyuan woke up and found that she was looking at Jin Funan sitting beside her. She fled downstairs in panic and found that the policeman had been killed by Jin Funan.

Haiyuan hid in a room under the strict pressure of Jin Funan. At this point, the police who were not completely dead shot and wounded Jin Funan. She struggled to pick up the hammer and hit him in the crotch. The police immediately fell to the ground, and Jin Funan struck again, letting him die. Haiyuan, hiding in the room, shivered. Jin Funan laboriously took out the broken flute that they played together as children. This is a testimony to their friendship, but this friendship has been lost. Jin Funan's last words to Haiyuan were: You are so unkind.

Finally, exhausted, she was stabbed to death by Haiyuan with a broken flute in her arms.

Haiyuan, who survived the robbery, bravely identified the murderer of the girl at the police station after returning. When I got home, I picked up Jin Funan's letter to her in the trash can, which was full of sincere thoughts and expectations. During Haiyuan's study, the stationery was all wet, and Haiyuan, who was depressed, lay down and gradually became the outline of the island.

The film tells the story of an oppressed rural woman's bloody counterattack. Although there is a 40-minute killing scene in the second half of the film, it brings the audience the pleasure of revenge. As a victim of the patriarchal society, Jin Funan completed the silent protest against injustice by killing villages. This protest awakened the soul of her good friend Haiyuan and changed her indifference and rigidity as an urban animal.

In the film, the intention of the island is very strong. Under the violence and evil deeds of male chauvinism, no one can be immune, including the foreign Haiyuan and the police. It can be said that such injustice and violence will affect everyone. Therefore, no one will become an island, isolated from the world, and no one cares.

The title of this film seems to be a factual event, but it shows a fictional story. The director's intention is very obvious, and he uses extreme and exaggerated images to convey the same conclusion, that is, there must be resistance under oppression, which is an extremely universal truth.

The film is directed by Jin Jide's assistant director Zhang Zhexiu. With a strong gold trace, strong spatial fictional intention, rough texture, dark theme, gender relationship, violence and blood, it is shocking.
