Customs of the Qingming Festival
Traditional Customs 1: Sweeping the Tomb and Paying Tribute to the Ancestors
In Chinese history, the ban on fires during the cold weather to pay homage to the ancestors, and the sweeping of tombs and paying tribute to the ancestors during the Qingming Festival have become an ongoing customary tradition ever since. Even in today's society, people still have the custom of visiting the graves around the Ching Ming Festival to pay tribute to their ancestors: shoveling out the weeds, placing offerings, offering incense and prayers in front of the graves, burning paper money and gold ingots, or simply presenting a bouquet of flowers, in order to express their nostalgia for their ancestors.
Traditional Customs II: Cuju
Cuju is a kind of leather ball, the ball skin made of leather, the ball with hair stuffed tight. Cuju, is to use the foot to kick the ball. This is a favorite game of the ancient Qingming Festival. It is said to have been invented by the Yellow Emperor, and its original purpose was to train warriors.
Traditional Customs 3: Tug of War
The game was called "pulling the hook" and "hooking the strong" in the early days, but it was called "tug of war" in the Tang Dynasty. It was invented in the late Spring and Autumn period, began to prevail in the military, and later spread to the people. Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty held a large-scale tug-of-war competition on the Qingming Festival. Since then, tug-of-war has become part of the Qingming custom.
Traditional custom 4: trekking
Ching Ming Festival, spring back to the earth, nature everywhere presents a vibrant scene, is a great time for excursions. China's folk have long maintained the habit of Qingming trekking.

Traditional customs: dragon boat race
Dragon boat race, is the main custom of the Dragon Boat Festival. Legend has it that it originated in ancient times when the people of Chu could not bear to see the wise minister Qu Yuan throw himself into the river to die, and many people chased after the boat to save it. They scrambled and chased to Dongting Lake when they disappeared. After that, they rowed dragon boats on May 5 every year to commemorate it. The dragon boat is used to disperse the fish in the river so that the fish will not eat Qu Yuan's body.
Traditional custom two: hanging moxa leaves calamus
Folk proverb: "Qingming willow, Dragon Boat Festival moxa". In the Dragon Boat Festival, people put the insertion of moxa and calamus as one of the important content. Every house is cleaned, and the calamus and moxa are inserted in the door and hung in the hall.
Traditional Customs 3: Eating Rice Dumplings
The Dragon Boat Festival is the time to eat rice dumplings. The outside of the zongzi is wrapped in bushel leaves and the inside is made from rice. There are many flavors of zongzi, depending on the preferred flavor there are sweet brown, meat zongzi and salty zongzi. It is best to make them yourself and enjoy the process of making them yourself.
Traditional custom four: eat salted duck eggs
Salted duck eggs is also a Dragon Boat Festival custom, in the southern side of the Dragon Boat Festival, the table will be placed on a bowl of salted duck eggs. It is both delicious and can promote appetite.
