Shanghai's unique folk art

1. Gongs and Drums Book (Xinchang Town): A folk rap sung in Shanghainese and accompanied by boring gongs, drums and cymbals, which was called "She Shu" and "Taibao Shu" in the ancient times, and which has a thousand years of cultural heritage nowadays. The people of Xinchang Town have been actively engaged in the inheritance and development of the gong and drum books, and have been creating short and open-ended gong and drum books for more than 60 years. In 2006, the gongs and drums were selected as a national cultural heritage.

2. Gu Embroidery: Originated in Shanghai, Gu Embroidery combines the connotations of literati paintings with painting and embroidery, which is elegant and vivid, and in May 2006, it was included in the national intangible cultural heritage.

3. Shanghai Opera (Chuansha Town): It originated in Chuansha Town, Pudong, as early as the Qing Dynasty, Pudong Chuansha slang farming in the fields, humming the rich local flavor of the "Dongxiang tune", which can be described as the budding period of Shanghai Opera; later by the "Flower Drum Opera", Later, after the development of "Flower Drum Opera", "Tanchuan", "Shenqu" and a generation of famous Shanghai actors such as Ding Shaolan from Chuansha, the Chuansha Shanghai Opera Troupe was established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. So far, it has rehearsed more than 30 traditional or original plays, created more than 20 Shanghai opera plays and related musical programs, and continues to carry on the development.
