Mid-Autumn Festival

Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a traditional festival that we attach great importance to, but it is also one of the most important traditional festivals in Korea.

The origin of the Korean Mid-Autumn Festival can be found in the book The History of the Three Kingdoms. King Ruri of Silla divided the courtesans of the six divisions between two princesses, who led the courtesans to weave cloth in the courtyard between July 16 and August 15, and on August 15 would determine the winner based on the number of cloths weaved, with the loser entertaining the winner with food and wine. At the same time, celebrations such as songs, dances and games arose.

In Korea, on the Mid-Autumn Festival, families pay homage to their ancestors with food such as taro soup, new rice, muffins, and fruits, as well as visiting graves.
