Australia's top 10 most expensive areas for house prices, do you know where they are?
According to Real Estate Australia, the most expensive district in Australia is St Leonards in Sydney, where the median price of a detached house (hereafter referred to as the median price of a detached house) is A$6.5 million. It was named the most expensive district in Australia. Darling Point and Bellevue in Sydney, with median house prices of A$6.2 million and A$5.4 million, respectively, ranked second and third.
The only other state on the list was Toorak in Victoria, which came in fourth with a median house price of A$4.6 million.
The rankings are based on data published by Core Logic. All districts in the ranking had at least 10 recorded property transactions in the year to Nov. 30 last year.
The median house price in the top 10 most expensive districts in Australia was between A$3.8 million and A$6.5 million.
No. 1: St Leonards (NSW)
The median house price is A$6,541,666.
While the district is not in high demand, it was the most expensive district in Australia in 2017. Independent young people make up the majority of the district's residents. 42% of households are couples or singles under the age of 35. The district has the oldest train station in the Sydney area, a major hospital and is home to the headquarters of commercial companies like IBM.
No. 2: Darling Point (NSW)
The median home price is $6.2 million.
This neighborhood is just 4 kilometers from Sydney's central business district. Home to predominantly single professionals, it is Australia's wealthiest district, with Australian Taxation Office figures for the 2014-15 financial year showing a per capita pre-tax income of A$189,293.
Despite the incomes here, more than 80 percent of residents live in apartment houses rather than detached houses, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
No. 3: Bellevue Hill (NSW)
The median house price is A$5.401 million.
The area has long been known for its private, exclusive lots, large mansions and private lifestyles. Homes in this area are usually gated, deep and have large lots.
The neighborhood is close to some of Sydney's best beaches, including Bondai Beach. Residents here embrace the lazy bay lifestyle, with parks and cafes everywhere.

The median home price is A$4.6 million.
The district is one of the most affluent in Victoria, known for its trendy boutiques, cafes and restaurants. It is just 5 kilometers from Melbourne's central business district and boasts several prestigious private schools.
The area's tree-lined streets are lined with historic mansions, large modern homes and apartment buildings.
No. 5: Vaucluse (NSW)
The median home price is A$4.5 million.
This district is located on the South Head Peninsula on Sydney Cove and is a great place to call home.
It has a lighthouse, is close to beaches and national parks, and has breathtaking harbor views.
No. 6: Tamarama (NSW)
The median home price is A$4,387,500.
The district is just 7 kilometers from Sydney's central business district, and one of the most enviable things about this area is the beach. It borders the famous Bondai Beach and sits in the middle of the Bondi-Bronte Marine Trail.
No. 7: Longueville (NSW)
The median home price is $4.325 million.
Located on Sydney's Lower North Shore, this is a district with a high demand for housing and a predominantly family-oriented population. Housing here is predominantly detached, with a mix of Victorian and Federation-era style homes and modern waterfront houses.
No. 8: Rose Bay (NSW)
The median house price is A$4,092,080.
This neighborhood is just 7 kilometers from Sydney's central business district, and most of its residents are independents under the age of 54. Units here make up 68.5 percent of all housing.
There are beautiful views of the harbor and numerous golf and sailing clubs.
No. 9: Dover Heights (NSW)
The median home price is A$4.075 million.
The area is nestled between Rose Bay and North Bondi and has a comfortable beach home lifestyle. It is home to a wide range of high-end luxury homes with views of Sydney Harbour.
No. 10, Double Bay (NSW)
The median home price is A$3.81 million.
It's an affluent neighborhood known for its boutiques, upscale restaurants, cafes and al fresco dining. There's a mix of art-deco units and luxury detached and townhouses. There are young professionals renting and living here, as well as retirees who have traded in their big homes for smaller ones to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle.
