Is there a market for second-hand clothes in Pakistan?
In Karachi market, there is a huge demand for imported second-hand clothing, and people have great interest in second-hand clothing. Last year, the import of second-hand clothes reached 2 billion Pakistani rupees, an increase of 654.38 billion rupees over the previous two years. Not only poor people buy such clothes, but also middle-income people buy them. After work, many professionals will go shopping to buy second-hand suits, coats, brand suits, pants and so on. Some brand-name shirts and trousers even attract upper-middle class consumers to buy these low-priced but good-quality goods. Affected by the devaluation of the Pakistani rupee, the sales tax on second-hand goods and the increase of tariff rate, the sales of second-hand clothing in Pakistan's wholesale and retail markets decreased by 65% to 70% this year.
