Are quasicrystals the same as quasicrystals?
Quasicrystal refers to a crystal composed of periodic and aperiodic structural units, which has characteristics and properties between partial crystal and amorphous. Usually, the structure of quasicrystals has long-range order and short-range disorder, so it does not completely have the periodicity of crystals in structure. But quasicrystals still have certain symmetry, and their physical properties are similar to those of crystals.
Quasicrystals, on the other hand, refer to solid substances with partial order, and their structures have some symmetry, but they do not completely conform to the rules of traditional crystals. Quasicrystals may contain symmetry, periodicity and disorder of atomic arrangement at the same time.
Therefore, although quasicrystals and quasicrystals both contain partial disorder, their definitions and characteristics are still different.
