Architectural characteristics of Danba ancient pagoda group

The ancient watchtower is a masterpiece of Jia Rong's Tibetan architecture, which has a history of thousands of years. Ancient carvings can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. It has a large scale, various types, superb architectural skills and high aesthetic, sociological, historical and national cultural values. The towers are mainly concentrated on both sides of the river valley, especially in Suopo and Zhonglu Township. The towers are the most dense and spectacular, and the ancient pagodas are well preserved and integrated with the village houses. The watchtower has a beautiful appearance and a solid foundation. Usually rectangular columns with four corners, six corners or even ten triangles are made of mud and stone. For thousands of years, the ancient pagoda has withstood the erosion of war and the test of earthquake, and still stands tall. Some of them have been biased and not fallen, and some have been bent into bows, claiming to be mountains and rivers.

The watchtower has many functions. Legend has it that it was originally used to subdue demons, and later it was closely related to war. There are four kinds of towers in Danba: portal tower, beacon tower, stockade tower and stockade tower, among which stockade tower and stockade tower are the majority. These towers have short doors and thick doors, and wooden partitions are used in the towers, some of which are as high as ten or twenty stories, which are easy to defend but difficult to attack.
