According to Zhao Jinrong, inspector of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture, Shanxi is a large province of Chinese opera resources and consumption. There are many types of local opera, once as many as 54, accounting for more than 300 types of theater one-sixth of the country, ranking first in the country, with the "cradle of Chinese opera" reputation. Shanxi's annual opera performances remain at about 30,000, accounting for one-tenth of the country's performances, and the price of opera at the forefront of the country. In the modern history of Shanxi, the village has a theater, opera not only enriched the cultural life of the masses, but also become an important medium of exchange of human feelings.

The four major operas of Jin Opera - Puzhou Opera, Zhonglu Opera, Beilu Opera and Shangdang Opera - have all been included in the national list of intangible cultural heritage, and have achieved remarkable results in terms of archiving and preservation, creation and research, strengthening of inheritance, and field performances, and are still maintaining a vigorous vitality, which is a good example of how the declaration of the UNESCO "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" can help to promote the development of Jin Opera. It fully embodies the principles and objectives of UNESCO's "Best Practices in Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" program.
